Be(Loved)

My research topic will be about Toni Morrison's Beloved. I am going to the explore the novel with mostly a historical lens, to see how and why Morrison incorporated specific historical events in the novel, and try to add in some of Morrison's personal history (her biographical facts) into that as well. Then I will be talking about how she uses her unique writing style to really bring the story out through the history and personal facts.

This is an interesting topic. Ok so obviously you will be look at this through a historical lens. However, I am not quite sure what your argument is yet. You need to make your paper argumentative rather than just seeing how she incorporated certain events. Through Academic Search Premier, I found an article called "What the Kids aren't reading." It looked really interesting because it talked about banned books including Beloved. Since you are looking at this topic historically, maybe you could bring in the idea about banning books during that time. Just an idea.

Good Luck! Chloe

Hey Parul,
Here's the feedback from the class on your presentation...
For your research question:
-Limit down "perspectives and theories" for more focus in your paper
-Are there specific sources of these?
-Are they reflective of her personal life?
-How are her viewpoints autobiographical rather than just her opinions?
Also, there was a suggestion to look on YouTube for more primary sources.
That's about all the class had to say. Your topic seems really interesting. Good luck!
